One additional piece of info from Van Turkey - Iraq Project One

I just found out today is a big holiday in Turkey - Republic Day. The current country was declared on this day in 1923. That is why everything was so weird here this morning. Not that it ''ain't'' weird here to an American anyway. I have been hold up in the hotel because I was sick and then I had expended so much thought on Iraq that Turkey's ''Fourth of July'' just got right past me. I think it is a bigger deal in Ankara and Istanbul anyway.
