In Hanoi

We made it to Hanoi with no hitches.  It is just a long journey from Janesville via Chicago via Seoul.  No crying babies on the second flight from Seoul to Hanoi.  The guy from the hotel picked us up as pre-arranged via email.  It is about 30 miles out to the airport from town and we got in around 11:00 p.m.  But when we got to our hotel they put us up in another one down the road for just last night.  This practice has happened  to me before, so I only could smile.  The temp hotel was just fine and the Viet Anh Hotel www.vietanhhotel.com picked us up and breakfast is about to start.  The usual European crowd is looming around the free meal.

I took a walk as we waited for the hotel to get the room and breakfast together and Heide read over her notes.
This little part of Hanoi does not open up too early - it is already 7:00 a.m. and the people are just swinging open their doors for business. The government music is playing from the street lamps.  Saigon would already be rocking and rolling and any attempt to play music in the street would already be drowned out by scooter, bus, and taxi noise by 6:30 a.m.

I will try to blog every day as long as I can find a computer.  I did not bring my lap top - too much headache to baby sit for where we are headed to in Laos.
